PyrenMuseu, Salardú

The preservation of a Legacy, the history of the Pyrenees in the Val d’Aran.

The pioneers. The routes. Facts and characters. The tools. The conquest of the peaks, from Aneto to Everest. The importance of photography. The cartography and science in the mountains. The glaciers and climate change. The arrival of tourism.

A discovery of the Pyrenees through two centuries of history, the 19th and 20th. The Refugi Rosta is the oldest hotel and tourism based building in the Val d’Aran currently in operation and the privileged scene of that era. The king, Alfonso XIIII, Franz Schrader, Maurice Gourdon, Juli Soler, Lluis Estasen and many other great individuals have rested here following their difficult treks.
