The village is located in the hills to the right of the Garona river, surrounded by farming lands and fields. The few houses which make up this village are around a large closed square with the church at one end. In medieval documents the village appears under the following names: Bella, Bela, Bellano y Betlano. In addition, Betlan is well-known due to the famous giant Mandronius, who lived here and fought valiently against the Roman invaders. His dwelling is located in one of the nearby spots, with excellent views to the Baricauba forest.
