Ruta Ribera del Nere-Tuca

Route: Vielha-Ribera deth Nere-Tuca-Betren-Vielha
Difficulty: Medium
Type: 4×4

Description:

The lower part of the banks of the river Nere, near Viella, is populated by riverbank vegetation which exudes the freshness of the river. The higher part is wilder, being a veritable high mountain area, where Lake Hòro, nestling at the foot of La Forcanada (2880 m), is breathtakingly beautiful. The river Nere flows through the centre of Viella, and its waters run into the river Garona further downstream. This river rises in the highest part of this valley, where el Tuc de la Gerbosa, el Cap de Tóro and la Forcanada seem to touch each other. There is a track leading out of the Cap dera Vila, following the course of the river Nere at the point where the river runs through Viella. A few metres of proper road are replaced by a rising forest track that leads to the N-230 major road. A few metres along this road there is a detour veering right, over the incinerator, where you take the track that leads to the mountain of La Tuca. La Tuca is a splendid vantage point overlooking the Middle Part of the Arán valley and almost all of the High Arán Valley. La Tuca, as the hiker will soon realise, was a ski resort (1800 m) until fairly recently. Sprawling meadows carpet the top of the mountain, and the site also offers a splendid view of El Aneto and La Maladeta. The road crosses the forest of Betren on the way down. The track leads straight to the village of Betren (1036 m). You take the track at the well-known Cap dera Vila, following the course of the river Nere at the point where it flows through Vielha. After a few metres of surfaced road, take the forest track up to the N-230, and a few metres further on take the track that leads to the mountain of la Tuca.

Difficulty: Medium
Type: 4×4

Description:

The Valley of Ruda is an extraordinary example of a glacial valley, its bank crowded by black pine forests. This valley can be spotted from the road from Baqueira to la Bonaigua. Many people believe that the top part of this valley, the cirque of Saboredo (2,300 m), is the real source of the Garona river. Here, numerous lakes are closed off by sheer summits that fade into the cirque, and already inside the limits of el Pallars. The track begins at point 1500 from Baqueira. The road initially leads to a gravel pit, but your eyes will soon be treated to the sight of fabulous meadows with small log cabins adorning a gorgeous backdrop. The track crosses the valley and leads to Locampo (1,800 m approx.). Here, it is advisable to leave your vehicle behind and proceed on foot if you want to enjoy this marvellous place properly.

Ruta Ribera del Salient

Route: Vilac-Mirador Ribera deth Salient-(Coret de Mont)- Vilac
Difficulty: Medium
Type: 4×4

Description:

It lies in the main part of the Valley, making it a magnificent vantage point for the whole of Mijaran: the forest track that leads out of Vilac takes us up above the 2000 m mark. The visitor can thus delight in large alpine meadows and reach summits such as Tuc d’Arenho or la Pincèla, at 2546 m without making too much of an effort. After Vielha, and heading towards Bossòst, take the LV-5052 local road to Vilac. When you reach the village, take the track on the right, cross the river and head upwards without straying from the track. Five kilometres past the village of Vilac, and on the same track, is the Ribera deth Salient Vantage point, now a picnic area encircled by red pines, with a view of the town of Vielha. Suitable in spring, autumn and summer.
