Other legends show signs of being somehow true, such as the one of Mandronius the Giant. People affirm that he fought against the Roman invaders, lived hidden in a cave in the surroundings of Betlan and spent his last days in Garòs, where he ordered his men to dig his tomb. In the middle of the past 20th century, a neighbour of the area who was digging to plant potatoes, found the remains of a skeleton of great stature. People assure that, for years, the impressive tower of the church in Garòs kept the skull attributed to Mandronius the Giant. Some Aranese guides include a visit to the cave where the kind-hearted giant lived, and they explain this beautiful story in their cultural itineraries.
